right side blinker not working

hi
while riding to work last friday i noticed the rhs blinker not working.today pulled switch apart and cleaned.voltage to both wires.the flasher can is from a car and when i check for voltage only the side that works lhs has voltage when switched.
any clues wiuld be good as i am not good with wires as i am red/green colour blind.

Hey there Jim,

You don't have to worry about the red green problem. The path of the current from the handlebar switch is to the wires that go to the lights, and to ground, throwing the switch just enables the circuit to complete it's path to ground. You know your LHS set is working, so your blinker is also working, but with an improper ground, your RHS won't blink. Pull your bulbsand check for blown bulb, check the contacts, also the ground wires around the signal stalks going to the ground plugs for that side, you'll probably find a poor ground, once it's fixed/cleaned, the signals should work again!!

try taking a piece of wire and touch the blinker stalk and frame. If it blinks then, it is a bad ground.

There is also a 6 or 8 wire connector under the gas tank that the blinkers power wire go through. Check to make sure you are getting power through the connecting block.

Same problem

My left side blinkers work so I know the flasher is working and the right side blinkers both light up so I know they both have a good ground but they do not blink! WHY? Does it have something to do with the cancelation unit? Anything at this point would be a big help.

Could still be a bad flasher unit. Try a cheap 2 prong one from auto parts store. If it is not flashing, it most probably because either incorect current is not getting to flasher unit causing the spring internally to flex or unit itself is bad.

My bet is ground connections. As I dissasembled the rear end, rear blinkers were a royal PITA to get em to work again.

no power to 1 side of the flasher can

tried to earth the blinker stalk.no luck.got test light out.1 side has power the other doesnt.will have to trace up under the tank.

I wold lay a bet on the connector under the tank or a broken wire.
