OK, I did some work on my 1978 Model E. I removed pods and went back to the stock airbox with a K&N filter. It has a Jardine 4 into 1 header, and testing was done at 8500 feet elevation. I don't think it matters if you have the 78-79 series or the 80-81 series as far as finding stuttering in the range. Your mains, float heights, and pilot jets may differ, but the analyses would be similar. I started with 130s because that is where it ran good before...Originally posted by rangerguy302 View Post

Stuttered at 5000 rpms and really bad at 7500 rpms. Had to adjust
idle down for 1000 rpms. Plug insulators looked tan, but they were

Pulls hard all through the range.
Did not test maximum speed.
End result: 45 pilots, 142.5 mains, 1.25 turns for pilot screws, 1.007
