Things about Gen 1 FJRs
1. Heat on legs can be excruciating. I am in the throes of installing the "Cromeit heat fixes". Each side is different. Re-assembling the fairings is a royal pain.
2. The ignition switch has two fat wires that carry too much current. The solder connections inside the switch eventually unsolder themselves. This stranded me for a day in Meadows of Dan VA. I was able to hot wire the ignition circuit. Now I carry the the hotwire assembly under the seat with the tool kit. A permanent fix would be to install a relay similar to what I did with my XJ1100 to install loud horns.
3. Gen 1 FJRs can have a loud valve tick. These were the subject of a recall. If your potential purchase is quiet when running, it is probably fine.
