End of the line...

It appears Swampthing is at the end of the line..awaiting another more seasoned opinion but from everything i see .. This is still preliminary BUT..I think the frame is bent...front fairing got pushed into the forks and the right side of the tank so that bracket is also bent..centerstand appears to be bent too...bike is on CS but rear wheel is still in full contact with the floor in the shed. with front wheel straight you can see the handlebars are not aligned properly... Looking straight back from the front of the bike and the seat is not level...right side is lower than the left..i made sure i had the seat aligned correctly.....looks like it will be parted out..or sold as a parts bike... I cannot forsee nor do I know anyone who would be willing to take on a donor frame transplantation ...

So it's basically a bent rolling frame with a good engine and some parts? That's a bummer.

yeah... some engine damage to the top 3 cooling fins on thier front corners..and a nice hole in the clutch cover as well...Its making me sick when i look at it..

Well I survived but the bike died..just the opposite of what i thought at the time i was hit...I cannot comment publicly on my condition past or present...

Thanks Randy...ill know for sure this weekend..if its a bent frame..then im gonna just hang it up owning and riding these old bikes. The past 6 years i have not even had a comfortable ride..seems i rarely do get comfortable anymore...

Ha ha..I cannot get over their bulk though..just too big and cumbersome for me...I'm leaning heavily towards a yamaha FJR1300..Theres an '05 w/29k miles locally for under $4k..I do agree that I need more comfort......Its been a damn good run tho... BTW that engine was sweet..never ever missed a beat and always purred above 4000 rpms..oh the joy it did give ..and you did a fine job on resurrection of her back in 2003...I am always going to have a soft spot in my heart for Swampthing.....We have all been through alot..It saddens me that she is near here last rites ..so to say..Its not 100% certain as of yet so I could be wrong..I hope so..but i dont think so...

guess I shoulda read this string before responding to the other one, eh?
Option two:- hang a sidecar on it!
Sidecars don't care about bent frames because they corner funny anyway.
And 3 wheels will keep you "in the wind" for at least another decade.
Gawd knows I dared not ride my Flying Pumpkin's tug solo even when I built the rig and I was only in my 60s back then.
