Looks like it has the kick starter nub, definitely a 78 or 79 in that regard. Brake rotors are solid without slots, 78 or 79 there as well. The look of the grab handle from a 1980 or later is definitely an improvement over what 78 or 79 had though. Engine serial number could easily be '79 and correct, and painted the cases/jugs and valve cover and machined the fins. 160 mph speedo is 79 all the way, but ad states it is not the original. Or they took the serial number off of the head stamp and not the engine, I believe it is located there as well. To me that engine kinda has a cool look to it as that bike sits.
SF's serial numbers start 3H3. Looks like a SF with later seat, grab bar and rear fender fitted. Side cover and tank emblems are correct for SF although it looks like a later side cover, prolly changed to match seat profile. I'd guess engine has been painted black at some point, as it has all the hallmarks of a pre 80 engine.

Looks like it has either an LG or LH engine with the older alt cover too.
SG side covers wouldn't fit an SF without being modded quit a bit.
This bike is a little scary.

It appears to have the kicker spline with rubber boot, which disapeered after the SF. The side covers look the wrong shape for SF covers, later covers do fit if you bend the top fixing tabs. I know this as my SF had later covers on when I first had it.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
