  • anyone use accel coils??

I have the wires already...just wanted to spruce up the SG, and see if anyone had opinions. Good?? Bad?? Ehhh?? OH...the wire crimps that come with these are TERRIBLE...that's a huge reason that i wanted to just get the coils. i had to do the cut/crimp method, because my coil for 1-4 has been mounted strangely...I need to get a pretty deep socket to get them off. being that the wires are built in, i think new coils would be the better option....

I have them on my 81. Put them on about a year ago and like the smoother idle and it is smother thru the power band. Mounting was done with L brackets and it is tight on a special. The Accell wire clamps are problematic. They could have done much better there. I'm running the 8mm wires and boots that the kit came with although I have built non resistor 6mm copper core wires and will install them at the first sign the fiber wires are giving up. I did clamp them using aviation adel clamps to keep them from failing due to flopping around in the wind.

I have Accel coils on my '80G. Before I tore it down this time it had, like, 35 or 40K on them with no problem but those sucky wires.

I have Accel coils. I bought them used without wires. I bought wires at the auto parts. I cross drilled them IIRC and mounted them in the OEM place. Not much room there. It's been a few years, no problems.
