    New Petcocks?

    I saw this somewhere else but i cant find it now...looking for alternative petcocks...universal? Who makes them and how much? Mine are FUBAR-ed and the internal springs are AWOL...so if I had the springs these petcocks might be rebuilt..pisses me off that i spent 60 bucks for rebuild kits and then it still cant get done...a simple effing petcock rebuild J F C..(use your imagination)

      Hmmm........imagination says removal of the outer chrome covers FIRST could of resolved that expense.

                          I put two on my tank and love them right side to left two carbs
                          left side to right two carbs. but no reserve I use trip o meter and fuel light
                          i'm looking for fuel at 80 miles.

                              Hey Ben- I believe it was Mack that posted about the new petcocks he's using on his bike. There is an adapter plate that must be used with it.

                                  Thanks guys..i found that thread Ian...Pingles look nice but out of the budget at this time....for now the these petcocks are being rebuilt and the vacuum is being restored as well...new springs for the diaphram are located but not yet procured...so this is still a WIP

                                      Pingels are pricey but:

                                      I've been through the petcocks at least three times problem always seems to come back. I gave up on the stock configuration and bit the bullet for the Pingels. Mine have On Off and reserve. The oil contamination and the leaking gas while the bike was on a tender (Gas and electricity) Kinda dictated too me that if I'm keeping this bike I gotta resolve this once and for all.

                                          If money is short and times are hard you can turn the petcocks to (prime) run all the time and get the little plastic shut shutoff valves for lawn mowers. They will cut gas off for sure. With the petcocks in prime gas should be available from tank anytime valve is on.

                                          Cheapest permanent fix I know of.

                                          Now if you want to still rant about what you don't have, or can't get, we are here to pick on you.
                                          To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

                                              I no way am I suggesting you need a tutorial to rebuild your bikes petcocks but this following thread, for anyone that is contemplating the stockers quality, when followed to a "T" will restore the factory quality to not only the petcocks but to the Octy valve also.

                                                      Been that is a very good write up and I agree with nearly all except if you have a proper stone with right angle you can still polish out the seat that it said is toast. If you do not have a large selection of polishing stones then if it is that bad in the seat it will leak still leak. Hope you get it buddy they have whipped more than one good man.
