It did cost a small fortune, Protech, and you know I'm doing it correctly, Brant, but, we-e-el-l-ll, I ran out of good used parts from my parts bikes and parts piles and it was not possible to nurse the old parts any further or I certainly would have done it!

The fork seals, slides and needle valves were necessary and were hideously expensive but they should last another thirty-five years or in other words until long after I'm dead and don't care one way or the other!

I'm doing the harness right now but I don't have any pictures yet, it's still in the layout and "what if" stage.

I've learned a lot just from the first few posts. Soaking the harness in mineral spirits.. I wish I even had a thought about more than superficially cleaning a replacement harness for my XJ when I repaired and re-wrapped it. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

I ordered 4' of 16mm / 5/8" harness tubing to replace the two 2' sections of hard-as-nails O.E.M. harness sleeves that run into the headlight shell:

I started to order new connectors and terminals too but when I refreshed the page after ordering the sleeves an overlay appeared at the top of the page that informed me the site owner is on vacation until August 1.

I'll wait and see what happens. The harness is laid out but I can't really rebuild it without the new sleeves, connectors and terminals. I suppose I could find better connectors and terminals instead of trying to rebuild the originals but Geezer at Oregon Motorcycle Parts dot com may have some of the connectors and I may buy a regulator/rectifier while I'm there.

Funny you should mention ice. The ice dispenser in the 'fridge smoked and died on Monday. The new controller board just got here from the Appliance Parts Pros and five minute later we have ice again.
