            • So, i stopped by today after work. He worked until 7am last night. 🏍
He's got the tires and wheels on, brakes installed, wiring harness back on the frame and starting to hook up the components. Rear fender is on also. It's not much 2 person work, so an extra set of hands won't help much.
I offered to come by the rest of the week for moral support and/or troubleshooting assistance if needed.
IF he can get done before Thurs then he get it inspected Thurs and we'll roll out Thurs afternoon of Friday morning.

                • A great many thanks to GEORGE!!

                  Hey Folks,

Haven't been on for a couple of days, as George stated, have been busy trying to get this thing completed. I truly appreciate the help he provided Friday PM in getting the engine in the frame. I had plans of sliding it across from the end of the bike lift into the frame, and that's sorta what "WE" did, but sure was easier with 2 sets of hands/muscles hefting that 300 lb anchor in, and then back out again. In my haste to get it mounted, I inadvertently put the upper engine mounts into the lower engine slots, and vice versa. And they were/are an interference fit, hammered them in really well, so they would be next to impossible to get back out! Anyways, they made the lower portion just a few mm's too wide, had to cut/grind a bit off of the inside of the FRAME mounts to allow them to fit, but were able to do so!

I had hopes(foolishly) of getting it done in time for inspection this Saturday, that's why I stayed up ALL NIGHT trying to see if I could get it together enough....ha...ha! By 8:00 am Saturday, I realized that I was still DAYS away from having it ready, so I crawled off to bed, slept till ~1pm today, got up, cleaned up, did the household shopping, and then dove back into working on it late this afternoon.

Here's a photo....sorry for backlight glare, but you can see it's no longer just a bucket of parts!

Last night, got the swingarm and driveshaft...that was a PITA, had to take the swingarm off so I could see the driveshaft to U-joint junction...the compression "C" ring kept binding and preventing me from pushing it all the way into the U-joint. Then when I went to put the rear wheel on....I took another look at it, and saw that somehow I had brainfarted, and had mounted the new rubber in the backwards rotation position! Needless to say that set me back another 1/2 hour flipping the tire around, and THEN another half hour chasing all of the little friggin' balance beads that fell out!!

I mounted the TCI onto the lower forward plastic splash guard of the rear fender, but then after putting the fuse panel in, realized that the starter solenoid would stick out too far and hit the inside edge of the ALUMINUM METAL side cover....because the rubber and metal mount for the solenoid was hitting the TCI. SO...I had to reposition the TCI a few inches farther LEFT to make room for the solenoid! Got the license plate holder put back on the rear fender, and have it mounted. Also mounted the new gas assist shocks....took some massaging to get them to fit.....slight dremmeling of the FD mount shaft for the 14mm bushing to fit over it, also had to change the bushing for the right swingarm end...the bolt is only 10-12mm diameter, had the wrong bushing I.D. on it, also had to cut off a couple mm's because it was too wide. But they are now mounted as well. As stated, both front and rear brakes are on. Another brainfart..had put the front forks/triple tree/handlebars on and THEN realized that the front brake line needed to run THRU the lower TT section, so had to take the top TT, headlight assembly off to get the brakeline routed. I also had apparently ordered the wrong type of brake handlebar lever, was going to have a nice new BLACK ONE, but it didn't fit or activate the brake light switch, etc, so had to put the old one back on!

Had removed the shift cover lever seal, and then finally went to put the new one in....WRONG SIZE! Thankfully I found the OLD one, and was able to put it back in! Just fun stuff like that that makes it take so much longer to do the assembly! Here's a closeup of the shift cover....a little OMEN of good luck I think!

As I stated, the accents aren't professional grade....and it's quite difficult to paint brush on SPRAY PAINT paint....it's a bit thin, and the brush apparently would spread a little with just a tad more presssure, and so that's why it looks a little wavy along the edges...but from 10 feet away, they look good!

Rich, as for the fenders, yes, they were originally chrome, but badly pitted/rusted, and so I took a fairly course paint remover wheel and scuffed them up a decent amount, and then used some etching primer the previous time. This time, just used some rust convertor primer, but I think the sandable primer would have been a better choice...it seems to stick better. Just hoping I don't bump it with anything to cause it to chip or flake!

I didn't have the harness installed, just layed out along the frame trying to make sense of it, and need to mod it a bit to remove some older changes and make a few new ones. I got the coils installed today, along with the shift cover, clutch cover, valve cover. I got the headers cleaned up decently, and then sprayed with some VHT ~1200 degree ceramic black...but regrettably it's a FLAT FINISH vs. the black chrome/ceramic coating that my old MAC Black 4-1 system had on it!

Gotta remember to get and put in the axle cotter pins! Also, need to put the new oil filter and fill it back up with fresh oil, and get a nylon washer for the drain plug! Tomorrow I'll be getting the harness and wiring all done. I still need to get the backrest made and fitted to the saddlebag/trunk frame mount. I don't know if I'll have time to MOD the footrests in time for the trip!? Also need to put the petcocks on the tank, gas cap, and carbs and get them on and hooked up. Also need to put the intake boots, exhaust on. Also the LED headlight bulb swapped into the housing, and also the AUX LED lights mounted. But the TO DO list is getting much shorter!!!

But like George said, it's mostly a 1 person job at this point, the heavy lifting stuff with the motor is done...again many thanks to George for stopping by and pitching in!!!

                    • It looks great, T.C.!

I know all about getting in a hurry and realizing it's later than you thought. My 'oops' for the day was putting on the carburetors -- it was much easier to put everything back than taking it out for some reason -- and I hooked up the choke/enrichener cable to the throttle.

Way to go, George, way to go!

                          • on the more serious note TC... is the rake still as the affected or have the corrections been made..? I have noticed that the H model seems to have a touch more stance verse the G model... this would be a sub-straight injection.... trying to avoid a car that has slammed into traffic...(ck spel) its brakes strait ahead might be a reason for a "WTF"... just something to work with...

Ladybugs being good luck (and killing one bad luck) is one of those superstitious folklore/spread around the school yard kind of thing that some people grow up hearing.

I thought TC had painted it in... that's why the "shutter-bug" insert... back to the frame at the triple tree, is it just me or do the H models sit at a different degree of rake? or is it just this particular H model that I am working on..? maybe at some point a previous owner fell prey to the bumper bounce, not sure...
