    That wouldn't happen to have been a 750/850 final drive now was it??

    Did you take off the drain plug to see if there was any oil in the drive unit???

    Would be nice to know WHY it failed, so that you might be able to not repeat the same event again.

      I haven't. But definitely going to. Was weird it wasn't locked up walking it backwards.

        Ah... the cat always so ready to pounce on the possible 750/850 FD problems... lol.

          Feeling dumb

          I hate to admit it but TopCat correct. No gear oil in final drive so it was my fault. I guess me thinking no leak means than its full. Won't do that mistake again. Live and learn. So far so good I hope. Thanks for all the suggestions.

            I was intrigued by the fact that you got the 4 bolts on the uni joint undone, if the rear wheel was locked up completely, it'd make it interesting.
