Your problem was probably the gasket rubbing something when you bolted the bowl on some times the gasket swells over the edge and rubs the float and then after the gas sits the float starts moving and acting right. If it comes back you may want to look at the bowl gasket and use an Exacto knife to trim any abnormality. That is why many guys do a test in a set up rig to see how they are working because you can not see what's going on and little things drive you nuts
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Also, the plug WAS running rich. You MAY have had a fouled plug, but it was cleaned with the "playing" and now works. A foul is a short from the center electrode to the ground via carbon on the ceramic around the center electrode. I was going to suggest you switch plugs between 3 & 4 to see if the problem moved.

Day off from working on it was maybe the 'magic' it wanted.........bike appreciated that...........now it is happy again..........actually possibly pulling carbs again, removing jets, etc. got maybe a pilot jet etc. unplugged without even knowing it. Hopefully that won't come back to haunt you.
