    79 1100 F Front master cylinder

The front brakes work fine, but I cant stand looking at the front brake reservoir any longer. Its as yellow as Smaug's teeth. Dug through 10 or 15 pages of old posts with the search feature but only found a suggestion about treating the plastic like a headlamp cover. I'm OK with that since the replacement part does not seem to be available. Anyone ever tried it? I would also need the O ring under it. The bike is 100% stone stock or NOS with the exception of the tires and battery. OK, a few well chosen SS fasteners.

You might try checking with Andreas. He might have a front master cylinder that's in better shape.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I had one that I painted black, it looked much better, cheap fix. If your bike is 100% stock, I can see why you would want a good original replacement.

Yes. I did it just like the link Steve shared. It has been several years and it still looks fine, not new, but fine. It has a new cap, so it takes close scrutiny to see that I worked it over. I found the packing (o'ring) for the bottom of it at my local hardware store.

Truth is, a new master cylinder with a slightly smaller bore would give your brakes a much better feel. But then, it wouldn't be original.

You can expand your search to include 750's and 850's. the reservoir will fit the 11's master (and cap) although it will be a bit shorter. A wider net might be the ticket.

Thanks for the additional info and comments. Guess I'm going to have to think on this one for a while. Nothing is ever easy!
