      Well

my issue is that I don't see the bikes, I only see the carbs. So if I get a set and they are bastardized, and someone is telling me he has an SG or an SH i want to know the correct parts to replace the crap that was sent to me so the bike will respond as it was intended. Sure I could just clean them and send them back as they were, but the way I figure it, if they worked properly in the first place, they wouldn't have mailed them to me! I have shop manuals for everything but the 1980 G, SG and LG. I've always considered them inferior(transition bikes) but i'm finding that I'm getting alot of them lately so I want to know. If someone wants to mail me a manual for the 1980, I'll stop asking all these stupid questions!

This has a fairly complete listing of the carburetor components. Doesn't have the LG, but it's got the G and SG. It's not a manual but it's got the jet sizes as well as the needle sizes and other info for XS carbs - Yamaha XS 1100 Carb Specs

You can also download the Yamaha XS1100 Service Repair Manual. There's a supplement in the rear that covers the later model carbs, but as is usually the case I didn't see any mention of the bastardized 80 carbs. Service Repair Manual

180 on the UK models, 185 on the U.S. models. According to the docs the UK and U.S. models used different slide needles, so you might need to check the needles to see what's appropriate.

Specials had shorter, quicker taper on metering rods. That's why it's sknown as the 'barhopper'..........quicker with very little throttke spplicstion. Have had both Standard and /special carbs on my Venturer. Main jet sizes also vary between the Standards and Specials, requiring different metering rod sizes and configuration.
