  • xj front fender on an xs?

    Hey guys,

I've read that the xj1100 front fenders are reinforced. Would that fender swap onto my xs? I already have a tkat fork brace, would the reinforced-fender be overkill? The fender on my bike now is in great shape, but I have a shot at a nice xj part for cheap.

    Thanks,

    Ed

Can't answer if it will direct fit, it probably could be re-drilled if necessary. The width should be the same.

The XJ fender is a direct fit onto the Special forks, not so onto standard ones...

Yes, it is reinforced somewhat better. It's also about twice as heavy as the one you have now. If you already have a fork brace, this will simply add unsprung weight with little gain.

Thank you Steve. Double the weight is insane! Smart thinking though on the engineer's part though for making the brace invisible when installed.

I still installed a TKAT fork brace on my XJ...the one built into the fender is of little use and the TKAT did improve things considerably...
