  • Help for bouncy front end at 80+ speeds

0-79 the bike is great, anything over 80 and the front end feels like it's jumping all over the place. Removed air from the front forks and this helped a little but still quite bouncy feeling at speed. Anything to help this? Last time I did fork seals I put in heavier oil just hoping that isn't what is causing this. Also I thought I saw something about putting some stuff into the tire to help balance it, the rims have no weights on them.
    Thanks!

Your front tire is not balanced. I had the same issue, until i put a new tire on.

There are beads you can biy that go inside the tire to make it 'self balance'.
I haven't tried them yet but others have.

      Balance

Remove the wheel. Take it to a place that mounts and balances motorcycle tires. Should not use over 15 weight fork oil. 10 is recommended.

        Justin,

Before you take off the wheel, jack up the front end and spin the tire by hand.

Look closely at the 'bead line' of the tire, it should be straight and level with the rim. If it seems to wander up and down or disappears down into the rim then the tire is not mounted correctly and it'll hop like crazy.

              Ha! Good advice Marty.

I had a similar condition on my trip west in May. Front tire had just started to cup. Replaced it in Durango and voila! No more wavering at speed.
