The only difference there may be is the pilot to main hole may or may not be there on an 80 carb.
I showed you what that looked like on the carbs i lent you.

Oh, of course the bowls are different too, but you can swap on yours.

Today I rode the bike for a full tank (to reserve).

The Bike got 38 MPG and this is what the plugs looked like. They are left to right, 1-4. #2 is the newest plug.

Convert

Is it okay to mix 80 carbs with 81? I know there are some differences but does it matter? Can you "convert" and 80 to and 81?

Yes they will interchange. Go through the used one that you get and transfer your new parts to it. Clean it and verify all passages are clear. Adjust floats. Be careful of the balls and springs for the choke rod detents as they know how to disappear when taken apart. Reinstall and sync again.

I looked at my spare carb bodies and did not find a #2, only to realize that my set has 2 - #2's so #1 and #2 are actually the #2 body, had to modify one of them due to a broken post situation.

The other spares have screws that need to be drilled out for the mixture screw or pilot screw and of course 1 has a broken float post

I also have a #2 with a broken float post. I guess I'll try to fix it at some point. Not now though. Time to ride.

As a side note, my right muffler weld broke the other day. It's why it was hanging funny. This is one of those time I'm glad I have a welder.

If I can fit it, I'll bring the whole rack.

At some point I need to test them again. I did fiddle with it and that has been know to bring about spontaneous healing... or it can be worse. Both are likely outcomes.
