    Saddle Bags question

Do the Yamaha Venture Bags also fit the specials? I currently have them on an F The mount that bolts to the shock and turn signal fit but the bottom mount to the foot peg does not lie up. I purchased a NOS Vetter brackets haven't installed them yet but they look well thought out.

    TIA

The bags fit both Standards and Specials, however the frame mounted crash bars on the rear I think were different for Specials and Standards. It seems I went through a couple sets of crash bars when I was setting mine up before it was lined up. I think at the time I thought the bars were bent. And maybe they were and I am wrong but I eventually got my bags mounted on my 80 SG.

The Specials and the '81 Venture/standard used the same exhaust system (and mounting points) so those saddlebags will interchange. The '78-80 standards have different exhaust and mounts. The front lower mounting point for the bags is the rear footpegs which is different between the two exhaust types which is why the bags won't directly interchange without some 'adapting'. All other mounting points are the same.

That's what I thought does that also include the 79 Special?

Yep, all the Specials.... The '79 Special frame does have differences compared to the '80-81 models, but not where this is concerned.
