thats the usual refrain... doesnt matter what you do...all the ST Owners that are using them on the street and roadways have said good things about them...most are careful to aim them so that no to blind oncoming traffic and yet they do an excellent job...aside from that if I dont like it I could sell it over there...although the ST11s' and 13s' use 2 bulbs...this choice has come as a result of a process ST Owners have evolved to...if they say it will work in street applications it will...I have been there with "off rroad use only" I dont have time or money to buy other bulbs these are LEDs not really "bulbs" so you will all find out when I report the findings...what you do well YMMV...Have a nice weekend Ian...

I've said this before but it bears repeating... If you're still using the OEM lens assembly, it's likely a big part of the problem with poor lighting is the lens/reflector. These are 33+ years old now, and because they're not a fully-sealed assembly, the inevitable degradation of the reflector from time will reduce/scatter the light output. These weren't the best when they were new, time hasn't been kind to them....

Thats great info Steve...I have read that before...my headlight and reflector work as well as they were designed to work...since they were prolly replaced back when the bike was resurrected in 2003 so those parts arent 30+ yrs old. I was out a few nights ago and I am pretty sure the previous owner already put an upgraded bulb in there...its pretty decent for what it is...still going my own route here though...BTW I will check the whole headlamp unit just to be sure the reflector is good...

In answer to your first post, Halogen, etc. lighting refracts differently than do the old incondesent bulb, and in in most cases use different refraction patterns in the front glass or polycarbonite lense. With that, expectations may be dissapointing.
