  • Sorry,...another LED question

I installed LED rear lighting (blinkers & brake) and kept incandescent fronts,...worked fine. I just installed LED blinkers in the front and now they just stay on.

I have a no load flasher in it now which is what I thought I needed. Is there a difference between "no load flasher" and "electronic flasher". When I Google search I see different terminology.

I've also seen people fixing by installing diodes or resistors,...that's all Chinese to me. Hoping there is a plug and play fix.

If someone can be so kind and post a link to what I need I would repay you in smiles...

No Load is what you want. Some electronic flasher still require some load (I learned this the hard way).

I did have to put a diode on each side of the turn signal circuit (right side and left side) to solve the problem when I went all led. If you use a resistor it defeated the purpose of switching to led.

Hey Rover. To be clear, are no load and electronic flashers different? When I lookup electronic they look the same except for electronic seem to have ground wires.

There are also 2 and 3 prong,...???

        Thanks!

Check this thread, it should help. The link to amazon shows a few flashers that will work.http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...D+turn+signals

            Hey Hammer,

Like Nate said, you've got the 79SF, but it only uses 1 dash indicator light, and the power will leak thru that light to the other side, surprised you didn't say that all 4 were lighting up at the same time?! The diode(s) will keep the power isolated to the same side that is powered.

Yep, you want the 2 prong style. I got an electronic one with a ground wire on Amazon, and it works just fine on mine, but I have an 81SH. I had an electromechanical one but I also have Incandescent dash indicator lights which provided enough load to actuate the flasher with my 4 LED turn signals. But then I put the new dual speedo/tach/electronic gauge cluster with LED indicators, and my flasher stopped working. The New electronic no load unit worked fine, but of course I don't have or use the self cancelling feature.

Hey all,...here's an update on my LED issue.

I think I found the fix. People kept selling me electro"mechanical" flashers. I went through 2 or 3 of them before I did enough research to figure out the peeps at Pep Boys and Advanced Auto Parts didn't know the difference.

So I have an electronic flasher on the way. The only one I can find within a 20 mile radius was a square one which I don't feel like fighting to get in the rubber loop. Hoping this is the plug n play cure I'm looking for.
