This was posted to r/motorcycles on reddit. You can skip to the middle to see the process. Could pay for itself pretty quick if you go through a lot of gaskets.

Way back when with my 66 Honda 450 I made a valve cover gasket out of the front cover of the Yellow Pages phone book.Put the cover on the phone book cover, outlined it,made the holes and it worked. That was about 40 years ago but I do remember it worked.'80 XS1100 SG

The tool might be a bit expensive
but as mentioned, it will pay for itself with time if you use it often enough.
It's fast and accurate!
I like the low frustration level myself as I've always done it the 'old school' way with a hammer and X-acto knife with varying results depending on how fast I wanted the job done. That takes all the guesstimation out of the process and makes clean sharp edges unlike the 'hammer' method that was always somewhat ragged.

What would be good is for one member to get one set it up and figure out a good price to sell gaskets to members here to pay for gaskets they make. Maybe a thread by some one interested in doing this could generate enough response that the system could pay for itself pretty quick. You would have to make offering of a few different types of material for gaskets but I am sure that many here would be interested if the cost was economical. There are some that offer gaskets on Ebay but the material is really soft and even if Pam or even grease is applied they tear and become one time use only.To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Reminds me of the pen plotters I used for several years, just replace the pen with a cutting tool.Neat idea.
Wonder if you can scan the metal item if you don't have enough gasket left to scan. I have a flatbed scanner that I could set small parts on if I had to.
For me it is not always about availability; nearest auto parts store is 15 miles away and small engine shop is 30 miles away. Sometime it would be easier to make what I need on the spot.
Definitely something to keep in mind!Jerry Fields

We need to find someone with a wife that likes crafts and would like one. Husband surprises her with it as a "gift" and then just happened to use it as wellNathan

So it looks like
it's the initial outlay for the Cricket, plus a full set of engine rebuild gaskets and then the one or two drive line gaskets as initial costs of investment. Then price would be determined by cost of gasket material, plus shipping materials and actual shipping price to location.
Dunno, seems faster to just make the gaskets by hand but if you wanted something durable like a valve cover gasket that was reusable...
I don't think there would be enough demand to justify the cost myself.79 SF & 80 LG MNS

People here should concentrate on what wife mother or even a female XS11 woman that could use this mainly for crafts and as a add on make gaskets to help pay for it. Personally I do not think any guy here unless he does other garage work like lawn equip etc could justify the cost of it for just gaskets. Maybe a daughter etc. And actually guys it would probably be better for a woman to make them. Men in general are good at jobs figuring out things troubleshooting crafting the prototype and such but if you have a repetitive task to do over and over and want quality women are most times better. To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
