  • Side Cover Dampers

The rubber sleeves ("dampers") that go over the tab that interfaces with the slots in the top of my SF side covers have crumbled into nothingness.

No longer available from the dealers.

I bought dampers for other models (XS650, XS750), but none of them are close at all.

I thought maybe my next move would be to try some of the thick PVC paint that us used to cover tool handles, toys, etc.

Before I do that, I became sure that someone else on this forum has a great idea for this problem they haven't shared yet.

That electrical tape just isn't doing the trick for me anymore.

              Thank Marty, Mike, and "Bergman".

I'm pretty sure that Partzilla 360-21717-01-00 won't work- the XS11 is not listed, but the XS750s are listed. The XS750 are very different.

That Mike's XS option looks like the ticket, from what I see so far.

Another option, just remove the top ones altogether and bend the tabs slightly in for a snug fit.

I can't figure out how to unlatch the single bottom latch of the side panels that are part of this discussion.

There is a key lock on the bottom and facing forward on the inside of the frame tube holding that Cover on.

Left side only on my SF- protects the battery and tools from theft.

RH side just snaps in a grommet.

                          Thrust Plate Grommet

You guys did such a good job on the side cover grommets, how about this. The rubber grommet that fits onto the nipple on the right side of the swing arm that the thrust bracket fits into. Anyone seen an aftermarket replacement?

No. The XS650 uses a completely different rear brake set-up, so there's no similar part at Mike's XS. NW Vintage and Speed & Sport both show 0 stock on the oem number.

This part may deserve a new thread. Mine looks shabby, too. I put rubber lube on it every time I replace the rear wheel.
