    hi BNE,
In 1998 the Shinko Group purchased the motorcycle tire technology and molds from Yokohama Rubber Co., and began production of these products under the Shinko Tire brand. With manufacturing based in South Korea and design based in Japan, the company has seamlessly combined Japanese engineering and design principles with South Korean production and quality control standards. Today Shinko Tires produces approximately 200,000 motorcycle tires per month.

They have to, they wear out so quick.

A ton of awesome feedback. I didn't realize they were still making that many different tire options.

I use the 712 but an important part of how long a tire lasts depends on your driving and road conditions.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

With the 16" rear tire there are a lot of options. Unfortunately those with the 17" rear are basically limited to 3. Sometimes, depending on the source, the Shinko Tourmaster is the only choice available.

Look here at Motorcycle Superstore for some of the choices.

He said he has an SG. 17" does not apply. If it did, Avon has 'em. Those are good! Continental Go was recommended by MOTOMAN. Pirelli and Michelin have 130/90-17 as well. There's also Kenda and IRC.

I was just offering the information Marty. Inquiring minds want to know.

In my opinion, Pirelli and Kenda suck.

Opinions are subjective. That's why I said buy round ones. I have no opinion with any value about Kenda because I haven't tried them. I won't try them because I perceive them as cheap tires, and I don't roll on cheap tires. I've been well pleased with the Pirelli tires I'm running. I'll probably buy them again. So there!

Had a Pirelli Route on the rear of mine when I crashed.

It only lasted about 5K and was just slightly less expensive than the E3. I blame Ivan, he recommended it. I put a E3 on just before the rally this year because the Pirelli was shot.

I'm getting tired of the Shinko's, many times they can be out of round, probably why Marty doesn't run them.

Doesn't really matter on the rear though. The hopping front tires are infuriating on long trips.

I got a rear Shinko once where it was so bad it made the bike feel like the front tire was out of whack, YMMV.
