I am prepping some of my herd for winter storage and was wondering what the consensus was as to it being a better idea to run the bikes out of gas or to put stabil in ?

Both
is what I do. I put the Stabil in the fuel tank and then close off the petcocks and run the gas out. I also drain the bowls for extended storage periods.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

My tanks have been rusty before and now I have them all squeaky clean.
I want them full of gas.
I used to use Stabil, but now I don't feel Stabil is necessary because modern gas has enough preservatives that I don't have problems storing it...even for a year.
I do drain the float bowls.-Mike

You know the story what happened to the Bentley's carbs when I put it on 'ignore' acouple yrs. ago. Didn't want the same results with the STeed, so I opted to use Star*Tron enxyme fuel treatment. IMO and many others, it is a better product than even the new Stabil. Can be gotten at any of the local bike shops. I keep it in both bikes throughout the winter as I do ride them occassionally.
As for perservatives in the fuel...... that bout has to be the best urban myth I've heard in some time.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Move someplace warmer so it doesn't sit for extended periods of time.Greg

Gonna be a pain with all those bikes.
If you have a heated garage, climate control and don't bring snow in with the cars to melt.

What happened? Did El Torro break out of the corral one night and party with all the good lookin heiffers?
Sounds like you'd better keep a closer eye on him!
Last I knew you only had two? Course, I guess that's all that it takes to tango, right?

Six to put asleep for a while
Top off the gas, add the correct amount of seafoam. Charge the battery, inflate the tires run for a few minutes to get the mixture to the carbs and then cover them up. All get the same treatment except the Yamaha HS1, it goes in the lower level (basement). Pic to follow79 1100 SF Carmine Red stock
