Need a windshield for 80SG. Doing a Iron Butt bun burner in November to FL and back, suppose I should get a shield. Advise please!

General consensus is possibly the National Cycle Plexistar II/III. I just put a Slipstreamer Spitfire on mine, and absolutely hate the buffeting it causes on the top of my helmet. It makes me wonder if that would still happen if used on a special, with lower seat height. Look on eBay, as they are sold new, and much cheaper than elsewhere.1979 XS1100F

I'm also digging the National Cycle Plexifairing GT, as well as the Slipstream S-02 Spirit.1979 XS1100F

I agree. Had one on Great Ranger before the Windjammer and its light and good protection in the rain. I rode through a monsoon coming back from XS SE 2012 with it. I only switched to a fairing for the storage.

That was the first one...I replaced it Crash Teter...but he brings up a good point. The Plexifairing will break even falling off the side stand. A fairing is much, much more durable.

I have a windshield on my XJ650. I found that very small adjustments could reduce and move the speed at which buffeting occurred.
I settled on 70mph as my high speed sweet spot. Experiment with yours.

I like General Consensus ... much more informative than Private Opinion. I found the National Cycle Plexifairing III @ Amazon for $202. Excellent price, I think. Other locations (Ebay, etc) aren't posting the 3, just the 2. I've ridden without a shield for years, might as well get a big one.
Thanks to all for your help. I love this place.Mike Farrington

Doing my own research the last few weeks on this site and elsewhere, I decided to order the National Cycle Plexifairing GT. Although I only have a month or two left of riding, it my-as-well be with less cold wind blowing on me.Last edited by IanDMacDonald; 10-03-2014, 02:43 AM.1979 XS1100F
