At first glance, I thought it was a '77 750. Very similar scheme.

I think I know which one you're referring too. She's awfully modified these days, but she's mine and as Shakespeare once once said "Love is not love which alters when alteration finds, or bends with the remover to remove" So I will find the solution to her woes.

Update: I road the bike to work this morning about 25 miles door to door. After just over 20 miles, it started bogging again, waste spark back fire, surging type idle. I am thinking of just ordering coils tomorrow and ruling those out, the ones on the bike are the factory units and have over 35k miles and have 40 years of service.

I'd fit green Dyna coils and bypass the ballast resistor, if you have one. They aren't cheap, and they cost even more over this side of the pond, but they are worth it.....

I've had 2 TCIs do exactly the same thing to me. Don't know if thats whats going on here for sure but if you can borrow a known good one for a while and get some miles on it with no issues it would answer this question.

                  Hi wingnut,

thanks for the tip. I have 2 spares at my house, but I believe they are off later or standard models. will this have an effect on compatibility? Again the bike is a 79 Special

Installed my spare 2H7-10 with no luck. Same issue undoubtedly. I pulled the coils to inspect warm resistance is 1.8 ohms on both sides at the primary side. Secondary side shows 26ohms on both coils. No visible cracks in the coil bodies either

                            Updates:

I inspected the plugs and 2 and 3 are definitely getting worked. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

I also got paid and pulled the trigger on the DC-1 Dyna Coils and wires today. I will have New NGK Caps and Plugs to go with them. I will do the resistor bypass and go from there once they are in.

Well, I installed the Dyna DC1 Kit with Dyna wires, NGK Plug Caps, and a brand new set of plugs. The Bike feels great at first, but the same problem still exists. I have no idea where to go from here. Battery voltage is good and again it's a new battery.

I have it entered in a bike show this Sunday and I don't want to miss out.

I hope anyone has any other ideas.
