So I'm almost ready to start putting my E back together and need a little help.
I'd picked up a pacifico fairing and hard bags from various members over the last few years and have had everything repaired and painted. I couldn't match the "macho maroon" so I've gone with something completely different. It's called "madagasgar gold", The problem I have is no record was kept with regard to the pin stripping. If anyone has an original with same fairing and bags, could they PM me or post pictures of the tank, side covers, fairing and bags so I can get this right. Mine will be black striping on gold but I want the same style and lettering.

Also, I've repaired the tranny and while the cases were apart I noticed my starter clutch bearing isn't rotating smoothly. I'll have to replace it. I assume the best way is to heat the upper case in an oven and knock it out to the inside. Anyone else have to do this and where did you get the replacement bearing from?

For the starter clutch bearing, do you mean #14, the right-hand bearing for the Primary Shaft?

Might want to try a slide hammer bearing puller. That's how I've gotten wheel bearings and bearings out of Harley cases before because usually they have a lip on them or something that makes sure they'll sit in the case square... you'll have to find a metric one:

Another option is put the case in a bearing press and press them out that way. Risks cracking the case though.

thats the one Scott. I have rotated it by hand a number of times and it feels ok then every once in a while it feels sticky and uneven. Might be left over from the fire, and I'm paraniod, but it's a part now, why take a chance. It's really in the case very tight though. I tried knocking it out without any heat and it didn't take long before I realized that more effort would be a bad idea.
