Whoa, that was a close one! Felt some popping from the driveline yesterday... Took a peek behind the dust boot, and discovered a u-joint that was about to come apart.
All was not lost, though.. Greg/BA80 was kind enough to come to the rescue with a new u-joint! Huge thanks! I'll have a cold brew ready for you any time.
The u-joint-ectomy was 100% successful, via the middle gear case. The new u-joint went right back in with just a bit of prying. I also learned a few things about the bike.. Like, the hinged rear fender. Whoda thunk it?
I had to pause for the evening, but should have it back up and running tomorrow. All in all, I'm glad this happened in my garage, and not somewhere on the highway. In a way, this kind of gives me good vibes about the bike. Now I just have to make sure I check all the other important bits, before they decide to take a dirt nap
