  • R6 Caliper Brackets

I'm interested in following "TheRev"'s mod and putting R6 calipers and updated rotors on my bike for better stopping power. Obviously buying the rotors and caliper are simple, but I have no fab experience. I'd be interested in getting a pattern I can take to a shop for the caliper brackets. Would any other calipers work better over an R6 caliper?

Keep in mind that his template is for blue R1 calipers and not R6. I don't know if they differ from each other but I thought I would point it out.

I was looking at Ebay between the R6 & R1, they looked similar.

I don't know if there is any difference between them, the part numbers are similar. The drawing gives a starting point though. I have some R1 calipers, but I have not tried to install them on anything.

The drawing was made when a pair of adapter brackets that Tony purchased didn't fit right, so he took the measurements to fix the problem and make new ones. I documented all of that for him with the drawing.

I assume 310 mm rotor diameter... might not make much of a difference but some years has 298 mm rotors and thickness varried as well.

I went to the dealer and measured them at the time but I don't recall what they were.

"TheRev" has told me that the rotors should be 325mm. I found some for an FJR, and another for a Ducati Multistrada.

325 is not correct. Depending on the year it varies: 298mm and 320mm.

                      I might have mis-spoke. 320 sounds right.

I have some loose XS1100 and XS650 rotors. I have three loose ones and all are 298 mm in diameter. I believe the XS1100 rotors to be from a standard. They don't have slots and the calipers I got with them are for a standard.
