    looks good

I had bought some of the spray bombs from Autozone. Actually had a primer the black and the clear as well but brought all of that back when I discovered the cerakote product while researching one night. Many pictorial illustrations on the finished product and I am especially intrigued by the fact that the paint is completely air dry. No oven cure required at all. Biggest obstacles for me presently is getting the prep work done on the pipes as that, according to my conversation with them the other day, is the key to the durability. They actually have torture test results posted on the durability. I am sold on at least giving it a try. What you are doing from the picture looks good. I am interested in the heat factor and durability and obviously the finished look.

          Hi, Jim -

I believe our member TheRev (Jared) used CeraKote products while doing the build on his F ...

It might be worth your while to send him a PM ... he seems very knowledgeable on the subject of painting.

Also, check out his thread, posts #53 through #63 ...

            awesome bike

He did a great job on that bike... and he has sold me on the idea of the cerakote. I am going with my original selection if glacier black but the black velvet looks good to. I am hoping the glacier comes out just a tad more glossy.

              Jim,

CeraKote describes Black Velvet as "a smooth deep black finish with a velvety look".

And they describe Glacier Black as an "ultra smooth, deep, rich satin black finish". Sounds to me like they are similar in terms of "glossiness".

However, the Glacier Black has a higher temp. rating - CeraKote claims it will withstand temps in excess (or is that XS?) of 2,000*F with no discoloration.

I believe the Black Velvet is rated to perform at temps up to 1,800*F ...

No matter which of these two you choose, I'm sure it will look great!

I am skeptical about the cerakote

That is the question. I have asked that question of the rev who used it on his and he has not responded yet. I believe he used it on his lower engine and his pipes so he is truly putting it to the test.
