Looks good but you did not have to put that Harley next to it to make it look better though. To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Beautiful job on that resto...that is awesome...I need to meet you...shake your hand and buy you a few rounds...
With all the "hey everybody I'm gonna chop my XS11 up...what do you think?" threads running around it is really refreshing to see a truly well done restoration...1980 XS650G Special-Two

+3!...........even like the styling of the NightTrains.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

always been of the opinion
that a motorcycle can be any color you want as long as it's black.
Both bikes are in great shape and both run very well. Thanks for the comments the restoration was a joy and the culmination of several years of collecting parts. I have a full set of original pipes that are going back on the bike, just trying to decide on what to redo them with. They are physically solid with the typical black chrome pitting for their age but I plan on glass bead blasting them and probably will go with the new glacier black cerakote ceramic paint. It is supposed to withstand temps up to 2000 degrees. we shall see.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

so much for glass bead blasting
Blast the parts with 80 to 100 grit aluminum oxide or garnet sand at 80 to 100 psi. Strive for an even blast pattern over the surfaces of the parts. Do not use glass beads, as they dimple the surface rather than etching it, which is required.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

Beautiful work. Now all you need is some dry shine spray wax to keep it clean. Easy to use. Spray on and wipe off. Has an anti static quality that helps keep the dust to a minimum.mack

thanks
for the kind words. The bike has always been a joy to own and I am just pleased to bring it back to it's glory. I plan to keep it and the only way it goes to a new owner is when my daughters sell it when I am gone, which I hope is a long time from now. I plan to keep it looking good and running until then and I will tell my daughters about this site. Not done yet though. I still have the pipes to do. For some reason the ceramic paint I was going to use on them is not available at the moment.
Mack, I am also looking into your post on what you used on your spica project, however you stated you used Thermo Chrome from techline. Was that cerma chrome black you used? I have been looking a Cerakote Glacier Black C-7600 as an option because the product is supposed to be able to be air cured for 12 hours rather then oven cured. Still looking a searching though.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

called Cerakote today
the product I was looking for was temporarily unavailable but they told me that it would probably be back in stock by next week. Cost is reasonable but the prep work for painting pipes is a bit involved. Think this is what I am going to try though.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

Guess it will be and experiment and I will need to blast the entire set including the muffs. $8.99 per can, now to find a blaster and the media you suggested, $ ?76 XS650 C ROADSTER
