  • What happened?

So I picked up my '79 standard today after it had some carb wok done. Trailered it home about 5 miles in the rain. Got it in the garage, started right up and turned the key off. Still running. Hit the Engine Stop switch, still running. Switch off, key out, still running. Finally had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop.

    Thoughts?

    Weird.

    Maybe it was hotwired?

        I don't know....

Some things surely have been bypassed. I think I would be giving whoever it was that did your carb work a call.

Forgot to mention everything worked fine before it got rained on. I'll let it dry out for a couple days then see what happens.

check the ignition switch wiring connector for a short or full of water to make it short

+1. Time to open the ignition switch itself and clean out the connections too. Cover them with dielectric grease to protect them from moisture.
