  • Xj1100 Float valve ??? O ring??

Cleaning my carbs (1st time for me),,and discovered this on one of the float valves.
Is this a O-ring I can purchase at napa or someplace or do I have to try to find new ones?

Try to find Viton "O" rings at Napa. I would replace all 4, as a leak will cause the carbs to flood! I don't know the exact size, but it shouldn't be that hard to find with a search on carb orings here.

If you have purchased an YICS Eliminator from me, you can use 4 of the extra O-rings that come with it to replace those. They are a tight fit, so use a little WD-40 when installing them in the carbs. If you haven't purchased an Eliminator, you will need one to do a proper synch on your carbs. Send me a PM and I will sell you an Eliminator without the eBay fees.

      Ride safe,
      Larry

        Thanks,
I have been searching for the Viton o ring size,,haven't had great luck yet.

One post suggested m1.5 x 7,,,,,I googled viton o ring m1.5 x 7 with no success. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, I guess,,
I really want to know what I need as I'm 20 miles from town, and can't be making several trips back & forth..

Thanks Larry, I haven't purchased one yet, but I've have been reading up on your Yics tool,,Quite impressive,,I intend to soon and will Pm you then,,

        Again Thanks all,

Little side history,,,,I had a xj750 in the late 80s & 90s, but I always had it serviced at the Yamaha dealer and never learned how to do these things myself.
I got the xj1100 a few weeks ago,,The Yamaha dealer, (The old one I used before closed down),,Informed me they won't do any work on bikes over 10 years old!!!???,,,,so here I am and very thankful I found you guys,,

Thanks for the reminder there are extras buried somewhere in my garage, Larry

It's good practice to lubricate every o-ring you install. In my mind, there isn't a whole lot WD-40 is good for these days, but lubricating o-rings is one of them (only use brake fluid for brake components, though!).

Harbor Freight sells a large assortment of viton o rings in a box, for about eight bucks.

Some of them you will never use on any motorcycle, however there are a few sizes in the assortment that work perfect for petcock and octy diaphragm tip o rings and needle seat o-rings.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462
