Been communicating with Mack, he seems like a nice guy, and he said to send the original cover to him along with his seat cover I ordered and he'd redo it.

Nothing is ever easy any more , and everything I ever liked they quit making it or it dies off.

So far, I ordered used seat mounts with the elongated nuts, they were used, but he said the elongated fastener nuts were there, but they weren't , so I'm dealing with that.

Purchased a used speedo cable along with gear mechanism, used, guy said it worked, but when I received it, it was only the sheath, the inner speedometer cable was missing. This after I purchased a new one and it was the wrong one. So this time I ordered an OEM cable, new, we'll see how that goes.

I ordered brakes pads front and back, but the fronts did not work, they don't fit the Specials, so I had to order different ones. I ate those because they were $9.75 with free shipping, sending them back would be $8.00 shipping.
I can always use for the rears, so not a total loss.

Here is my original seat cover removed off the seat pan, its obvious it was custom done, because of the seat foam and duct tape I saw on the edge of the seats, so someone may have replaced the seat or the seat cushion.

Foam and seat cover was glued on:

He wrote back and said he couldn't duplicate the pattern for the XJ seat...

Maybe B&H hasn't priced themselves out to me after all....

It was just reported here someplace that the $60 Saddlemen seat cover tore as a professional upholsterer attempted to install it. Boo!

trbig, are you experienced with the B&H cover? Are they sewn like Saddlemen covers or heat embossed as original? To me, a quality product is often worth a few extra $$.

Marty, probably the highest quality cover I've seen. Pattern is sewn into leather, not plastic, with a little extra cushion underneath to make up for foam crush over the years. That picture I last posted was my seat with their new cover several years back.

            +1 for the B&H!!
I have one on the '80 MNS and on a '79 Standard seat. Both are just the vinyl, and went on well.

He's very good and easy to deal with

One of our members recommended him and since the cover on my G was ripping apart, I contacted him. He did not have the pattern for my seat but he said if I sent him mine he could duplicate it. And that he did really well.
As someone mentioned, the front and rear pleats were not perfectly parallel but you have to look very closely to notice. The material he uses is of good quality and he gives you enough to hook into the barbs in the pan.
The one mistake I made was not covering the foam with some type of plastic before installing the cover since the seams are not waterproof but I wasn't about to take it off to do that.
The upshot of this was that since he didn't have the pattern for the G he gave me the cover for free in exchange for my old seat cover...
As I said at the beginning, he's a decent guy who does decent work. I would recommend him without reservations and you can't beat his price.

                B&h

I ordered one from them for my Midnight. The cover is well put together, however it is not an exact match of the original. They failed to put enough pleats on the top portion. I have not installed it but will when the need arises. For now I am still riding on my original seat which is still in great shape for it's age

I will say that B&H is not cheap or fast for that matter but they do a very good job on the product. They add extra padding as was stated earlier and include installation instructions for assembly. I will also say that if you decide to use them be sure that is what you want. They have a 20% restocking fee for returned items.

new seat cover installed, im pretty happy with it for the $45 total it cost me. Installation was pretty straightforward. The back doesn't look to pretty, don't know if that's my amateur installation or if the cover was just a little too big for my seat.

                      Seat cover

looks good. If it were mine I would invest in some padding and contact cement. Fill in the voids a bit and then redo the cover to tighten it up a bit. Looks like you may be a bit off center too. I am told that heating the material as you put it on helps.

I received my seat cover a couple months ago, I sent my old seat cover in and he custom made one to fit my bike. Not bad for $26.99, bought some spray fabric adhesive, sprayed light coat, started from the rear and worked toward front of seat. Had someone stand on seat pan as I pulled on sides and used those barbed spikes to secure it in place. Finally got the time to put the cover on the bike today.

nice looking seat. It should smooth out some more after it sits in the sun a bit.

Yeah Jim, plus vinyl overtime shrinks as it ages, also padding though aged, not exactly symmetrical (close), but in decent shape.

I'll +1 the B&H covers too! Yes, they are a little pricey, but if you order the premium vinyl (they call it "premium black long grain"), they are exact duplicates of the original. Even the double top-stitching unique to the MNS was duplicated. Be careful around the edges of the pan, as the metal can puncture the vinyl. Maybe a little extra padding should be added in those stress points when installing.

But what size are the B&H seat covers. I do not believe I had the original seat, so how would someone know? Be nice if they sold original seat foam to go with it.

As for the metal sharp edging around bottom of seat pan, my seat still had the original rubber edging underneath, but one could use duct tape if need be.

My original seat cover had some seams that spilt at the top and back side.
