Seeing he said "new territory", we were just making sure to give the correct method. Deviation from that is entirely up to the individual.
BTW, you'd be surprised at how little the throttle plates are actually opened cruisin' at 4-5K out on the slab.

JKL..., Reminder -- as you are syncing your carbs, use an electric fan trained on your engine as you work. This will keep it from overheating, as there will be other way to cool it.

Bigger cams = more air in the chamber that requires more fuel to burn/fire correctly.

        Simple fact.

BTW, just out of curiosity. How much DID those 3 horses cost?

The XS11 was rated 95 HP at the crankshaft, not at the rear wheel. We are lucky if we have 70 at the rear wheel. Tinman has 98 at the rear wheel, extra 25+ HP.

Not exactly how the post read but OK. Still, physics remain the same.

Big Daddy Funk built the bike. I was lucky enough to have the chance to buy it from him. From what he has told me it wasn't about the money as he new it was going to be expensive plus he sold it to me shortly after. It was more about the experience. Having a friend that built race bikes and owned a dyno was a bonus and made it all worth while for him.
I paid much less than he had invested , it came with a chain drive conversion, ZRX swing arm, rear wheel and a life time of spare parts. I already had a nice 80SG but couldn't say no to buying buying it.

80SG Vetter bagger 1196 Wiseco big bore kit, Mega Cycle Cams, slotted cam gears, ported and flowed head, bronze intake seats, Dyno Jet kit, Dyno coils and Mikes XS air pods, Venture cam chain adjuster,Geezer's regulator, Clutch mod, Mac 4 into 1 with custom built and tuned baffle, Oil cooler,MikesXS emulators mod.
Dyno tuned to 98 hp at the rear wheel.

So, i got them pretty close. The backfires stopped. Revs are decent now.

                https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

I dialed them in around 1100RPM for idle, but it would be good for a short bit, then sputter out

If it's cranked up to 2K RPM, it holds...

Also took it on a short ride around the block...my friend forgot to tell me there were not front pegs for it...so i have to wait for those parts...

See your gaining some...............but still gonna have to take two steps backwards, and likely have go thru the carbs a couple two three times........but you needed the practice anyways. BTW, no dicouragement, but your not even close to 'dialed in' as of yet...........and footrest ARE a good thing to have.
