  • cheap float setting apparatus

    You can make this for about 5 bucks and a couple zip ties. The funnel for filling the carbs is a turkey baster with the bulb removed. 1980 SG is now on the road and tuned for bear ! pm me if you need more details on apparatus assembly.

    That is called the Manometer method, it's in the Clymer manual and it's a very precise way to set your floats (and check them).

      Are those fittings screwed into the bowls, or just pushed in? Are they leak-proof? Did you find them at the auto parts store?

        A little thread tape makes them leak proof and re-useable

          When you are talking "leak" and "XS11 carbs", I think "leak RESISTANT" is the best you can every hope for!
