I kinda like that stubbier exhaust and if it's stainless, it'll buff right up. So while that price might be a bit high, it's not that high...

If it has the 1180, GET IT!! That is the RC Engineering kit bore, and as Special Ed can attest, it is a hoot to ride! Russ Collins had a higher dome on the pistons, and make a LOT more torque because of it. Ed's bike just got the "hot" engine installed this past weekend, and I know he is VERY happy with it so far. He does need to break in the new bearings, but the engine is MUCH stronger than the stock.

Does it have the 1179 big bore in it? It is described as a 1180.

Look at the prices we have to pay here to get a bike that you chaps in the USA would pay a lot less for......

This bike needs a carb rebuild but apparently runs reasonably well, although a bit rough, with no mechanical noise, stuck valves or anything too untoward. I'd like to give it the 'treatment' and make it look great. It's a 1980 with 34,000 miles on the clock. Possibly genuine. Basically, it's all there apart from the lift handle. The seat has been reduced in height, so would need to be replaced. Stainless exhaust but not exactly replica. A good potential project though. If I win it, I'll keep a photo record of the restoration and post it all here. Gotta have a project! My XJR1300 is completely done with no further scope for tinkering.......

Why is it that prices for motorcycles in Europe in general are so much higher than in the US? I heard from some French friends that even the cost of motorcycle license is highly inflated. I guess it's just another reason to be happy that I live in the colonies.
