If you have the old tank, and want a match, take it to a shop and have them match the BOTTOM of the tank. The overspray in the tunnel will help get a match you can trust. I know the top and sides are faded, but the underside NEVER gets daylight on it.

+1, that was how mine was matched.
MarkD's issue may be the fact that blue is a bit different shade on each of the three yr. Standards. I can tell you for sure(and some may verify that have seen), that color code/name is a dead-on match for the 81H, which BTW was the only color the Venturer came as. The sidecovers repainted, cannot even be depicted they were ever re-done as the paint 'layed' perfectly flat and shiney. 3-4 coats between 'flash' drying, plus I did that some years back in garage, in Feb., and only 55-60degrees in there. The dryer climate/air here I'm sure benefited the results some.

BTW, interesting that IndigoBlue for majority of folks is not even close to what Mother Yammy calls indigo blue.

          Paint

Of the 2 1980 colors that I had mixed, one (New Ruby Red) was done simply by the make and model year of the bike. The other color (Diamond Silver) had to be matched by the body shop's paint rep who used their "magic" machine to photograph the color and determine the mixing recipe from that.

Both colors were a perfect match. They were base coat/clear coat applications. Duplicate decals for saddle bags are available from KZ900.com
