I apoligize for the brain fart.
Sorry guys for the misleading previous posts I made in this thread.
I think I've been doing to many things at once and got a bit confused about the mounting of the footrests on the 5k7 Sport.
Went out to the garage and looked the SF over and realized sometimes I don't know what the hell I'm thinking.
Been trying to find pics of the 5k7 footrests, off the bike, for a few days and with those bikes being black it's hard to see just how the footrests are configured.
The best shots I got were tonight:
I apologize to you James, for muddying up your thread and appreciate all you do for us over here.1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

I did a bit of measuring some time ago, and the ally hangers on my SF are physically the same as Steptoe"s RH. Just that mine are natural ally colour and don't have the imprinted swirl? on the outer face, so just swap the pegs and levers and the case over with the appropriate 5K7 bits and that'd be it, done!
Also pretty sure that the ally hangers on the Standard models are all the same. Just the footpeg brackets differ in shape79 SF Special W/ Stock all original motor @ 384,000klms

My XJ hangers look like the 5K7 hangers, with the detail groove cast in.
The only thing I worried about was difference in holes, the shape may be the same but are the holes in the same place? 2H7 to 2H9 and 5K7 to XJTom

Forgot to put in a vital piece of information about the hangers. They all have the same part number - 27442-00-00.
Only the part number prefix differs to suit the different finishes.
eg: 4W1, 4RO, 3H3 etc.79 SF Special W/ Stock all original motor @ 384,000klms

I don't think the 2H7 & 2H9 will bolt up to the 5K7 , XJ or the '81H (Venturer) as the latter models all have the upswept mufflers.
I finally found a pic of the 5K7 footrest that I'll need to do the conversion:

Jayel- That's an interesting request. But, if you can visualize the US Standard riding position (sitting in a chair), versus the Euro (more rearset). I do a lot of riding with my feet on the rear pegs, so I felt this conversion would alleviate this.Last edited by IanDMacDonald; 02-21-2014, 10:19 AM.1979 XS1100F

Some good info there from Errol and Schming.
I've had time to have a look at my XJ and XS11 Sport, the 5K7 Sport (same as RH Oz/NZ) does use the same aluminium hanger bracket as the Special/XJ (the one with the detail groove cast in), there are no extra holes drilled and the 5K7 footrests simply use the engine mount bolt and welded peg same as the XJ fitting.
Unless you have Sideshow Bob feet the brake lever will need to be shorter, this would be quite easy with a hacksaw and welder but you would need the reversed gear lever.
Please excuse the scruffy state of my bike, its well used
Wolf (XS-play) purchased some 5K7 Sport rests on ebayUK which I sent on to him for £24 shipping.Tom

TyTyTy!!!
Heck, with those pics I can fab my own !!!
I've been searching for pics half as good as yours for days. Guess I should've just asked. No pain . . . no gain
I've searched the UK ebay with no luck so far for the pegs.
The stock SF brake lever, as you mentioned, won't work well with the 5k7 pegs even if cut and shortened, 'cause the bend is too far forward.
SF brake lever:
I would like to convert my SF with all the authentic Euro parts necessary.
Thanxs again for the pics !!!1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
