I work in a body shop and have found that after denting my tank with the handlebars, (low speed tipover), I was able to get most of it out from inside with a PDR tool. Any long bar with a flat or round tip should work, (thinking small pry bar, or really heavy screwdriver), but you'll want to coat the tip with either lots of electicians tape or a rubber sleeve so you don't gouge the inners of your tank. Work your way from the edges inward and you just might get lucky and have it "pop" back. Just be careful of how much force you exert on the edge of your filler neck, I actually put a new dent in my chrome as it is very soft.
