I've read quite a few of your prolific posts, old chap, and reckon you could easily change your user name to TRbigmrProvocative. Never a post or response without a dig at someone....interesting case, aren't you? Why not practice making a point or a response without the sarcasm? It is, after all, the lowest form of wit, old boy. and no, I'm not in the least wound up by your tone, sorry!

You gotta remember, the UK is tiny....and I've done a lot of miles in it. Never seen people standing on their bikes on motorways (freeways) and trashing them with abandon. We don't have enough open space like in the US. Presumably you've never been here.

Over to you Mr P! Can't wait. I used to milk snake venom for antidotes in a job I had...

For me it has to be fork seals.
I'll never understand how anyone can let that slimy nasty s**t weep down the legs and contaminate everything below. The handling issues are bad enough
      not to mention the brakes.
tie a rag around the legs or drain the remainder .

what really ticks me off is the fact that I cannot ride 6 months out of the year, and then read all those ride reports....

The thing that drives me the most nuts is: now that I'm older and wiser, I realize all the bikes I've owned will never come my way again. I've let some honeys go,and wish I could have kept them all. My signature doesn't include all of them I've had. Oh, to have that X6 Hustler back....

I second that - I've had seller's remorse after selling every one of my previous bikes, but time/space/money involved

in keeping them all running was just too much to handle. But, my 2 biggest selling regrets are

the '83 Honda CB1100F (one of the best-looking UJM's ever IMO and a great all-arounder) and

the '79 Kawasaki KZ1300 (the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden and .... oh yeah, it had that glass-smooth, velvet hammer inline 6).

                    Hi Peter,
more like a poor relation. The Craigslist ad shows a Yamaha XS400.
The seller claims it's a 1980 XS400 Special II but I doubt that.
All the 1980 XS400s I've seen had 7-spoke cast wheels and a disk front brake.
That bike's wire wheels and drum front brake suggests it's somewhat earlier.

                      Hi Fred -

Actually, the photo in the Craigslist ad is that of a 1980 XS400 Special II ... the "regular" 400 Special

had the cast wheels and the disc brake, but the Special "II" had the wire wheels and drum front brake.

I remember having to choose between the two when I purchased mine new in 1980.
