So, as it turns out, there are ZERO bolt suppliers in Cincinnati that carry a M16 in fine pitch thread. Not even the John Deere folks had anything in fine thread. So today, I figured I would go to my local shop and try to borrow one from them. As it turns out, the parts department had THE tool on hand. And it was $13 taxes and all. Kind of an expensive bolt, but worked for me.
So now the rotor has been removed, the cases are reunited, the rotor is back on and torqued, and the timing assembly, starter, oil passage cover, **** assembly and cover, trans cover and of course oil pump are back in their proper spots. Still need to pull the coils out of the alternator cover and polish it up a bit, as well as the clutch cover. But first I plan to reunite the engine with the frame. Need to get the engine good and clean first though. The paint on the top back of the engine is all brown, like it was caked in cigarette smoke. Does not clean off there really. I may just end up painting that area of the engine.
