From all that I see, a Standard (G model I believe) with a Special tank.

        standard or special?

I believe it is a standard, with special tank note seat tank junction!
Note non leading axle forks Also I don't think Special ever had square gauges or turn signals Can't tell rear wheel size.... 17 inch would be a standard.

Yes, the front end, headlight, gages, turn signals, rear foot peg brackets, and seat point to Standard. Now that I see the rear seat cowl, I believe that would make it 78 or 79.

+1 on a standard. If the seat cowl is indigo blue, I'd say '79 F. Lookk at the forks, no leading axle, more evidence of a standard.

Also, if the bike runs pretty well, buy it, get fenders, side covers, and it will look sweet.

I agree with everyone standard with special tank...VIN#would tell us the year

recently I had to play this game with xs owner who was selling motor ... he was under impression that he owns '81...but with VIN starting with 2H7000xxx...not so much

First thing I looked for was the kick starter plug. That kinda looks like the kickstarter shaft, with Jardine alphabet mufflers? I'll wage a guess and say '79.

                        Hi Eastcoaster,
if it's a bargain - - - ? Thing is, XS11 parts swap like LEGO so although for sure it's a Frankenbike, what did it start as?
Check the frame ID. Check the engine ID too.
Compare those against the year/model list that's on here someplace.
And against the IDs on the registration.
