ITs not the stacks as much as the small pressure drop of the layer of filter material your using.

If that is what your calling PODs, then that is the likely cause of the lean condition. What most folks refer to as POD filters are much more substantial than that filter material. That is why I asked you to check the plugs to confirm lean or rich mixture.

Those aren't what I was calling pods. Those are the velocity stacks I "made" out of an old air box. Here is a picture of the pods that were on it:

Ok seeing the pods you are using prompts the question.... Can you take and post a pic looking down the throat of the pod filter?

So I just froze my butt off and went out for a run to test the plugs as suggested. Here are the pictures of pre-cleaning, post-cleaning, and after the run.

            WARNING LOTS OF PICTURES

            Pre Cleaning:
            Plug #1:

            Plug #2:

            Plug #3:

            Plug #4:

            Post Cleaning:

            Plug #1:

            Plug #2:

            Plug #3:

            Plug #4:

After Running at the rpm "wall"

            Plug #1:

            Plug #2:

            Plug #3:

            Plug #4:

The differences between the "Post Cleaning" and "Post 'wall limit' run" are subtle but if you open up both images side by side you can clearly see the difference. (But I don't know what it means).

Ignore the last post I messed up the order when taking pictures

I tried to make them easier to see by putting them side by side, from left to right is pre cleaing, post running, and post cleaning, notice they are out of order because I messed up so the middle one is the one AFTER I ran at the "5k wall"

              Plug 1:

              Plug 2:

              Plug 3:

Correct me if I am not seeing it right, but post run looks cleaner than post cleaning, which would indicate a lean condition more than a rich condition.

Ok now in order I see the wall looms blacker or rich. Time for contemplation.

Yeah, take a look at my second post. I messed up the order. The first of the side by side pictures is pre-cleaning, the second picture is the post-run, and the last picture on the right is post-cleaning. Things got all out of order on my phone.

What's getting me is that the plug base looks sooty post-run but the electrode looks like it's whiter than before.

Gabe- I'm really confused! You created a second post cuz u botched the first, and botched the second as well? So, I'll work it out. Those plugs don't look lean to me, btw. I could be wrong . . .

You need new plugs to get a proper reading.

Did you kill the engine while it was at the 5k mark? How many turns out are your mix screws? Have you synched the carbs on the bike yet?

Is it my eyes, or is #4 a different plug number than the other three? It looks like it has a longer center electrode.
Have you tried 4 new plugs of the correct type and number?

Yeah, I suck, I know. But they got sooty after I ran it so from the tech tips it looks like it is actually rich and not lean because they'd be bleach white if it was lean from what I understand. I do need to pick up new plugs though because these ones are filthy and it's hard to tell the difference.

Bleach white would be extremely lean. Your bike could still be running lean with the plugs looking less than tan. Advance actually stocks the NGK plugs if u don't have a shop nearby.

Those pods look like the cheap ones with the lip that covers the jets on the carb intake bell.
