Finally received the exhaust back from being ceramic coated.
It was way cheaper to have him media blast the exhaust and ceramic coat it than it was to buy a new exhaust.

I think from what it looked like when I picked it up to how it looks now is a huge difference. Plus it will keep the heat in the pipes like the heat wrap.

Here are the before and after pictures.

    Here are the after pictures...

This is the same finish I have on my cafe racer exhaust.

      Hmmm.... Those look great!

Between those and brand new ones, I think I like those. Are they more durable than MAC chrome? I suspect they are. I'm thinkin' about how those headers would look sportin' some Supertrapp stainless mufflers.

      or chrome

While my experience with the ceramic looked like yours when I received it, I do find that scratches seem to show very readily. I will be interested to see what you find in the next couple of months. Please keep us updated on yours.

Hey Jet what part number are the supertrapps that would fit the XS1100F?
Well I have finally gotten some time to do more tear down on the XS1100 so I can get everyting off to powder coat.

Been trying to get the HondaBusaBandit done so have not been doing much with the XS. I did send the seat off to Seth Laam and he did a great job of trimming the foam and resealing it and putting my new seat cover on so it doesn't smell musty like an old attic.

Mainly doing the frame, triple tree and maybe the swingarm.
Don't really want to disassemble the final drive for powder so I may hand sand it down and paint it.

But got the front end off but I cannot seem to get the big round threaded nuts holding the lower triple in. Does not want to budge so not sure if someone put thread lock on it or what. My CB750 came off pretty easy.

Anyway here are some more tear down picks.

Head Unit and wire harness off.

Down to the last little bit to go.

          Thanks

No part number, but here's the thread that includes a video.

Well I fiinally got the swingarm off and what a pain that is.
I knew it was tough to get to but of course not having anything to keep it from turning made it even more of a bear.

I was finally able to just zip tie the boot back out of the way and wedged a wrench on one of the screws and then had a leverage wrench to help get the one I was working on to finally break loose. Just rotated it around and did each one.

I did finally remember to go ahead and drain the old oil out of it and man was that stuff black and thick. So now I have a new filter and no oil in it right now.

Now I will roll it outside and lay it on it's side and drop the engine out.
But I first have to have some where to lay the engine and still be able to move it around.

That is kind of what I was looking at.
I have two ofthem here at the office.
I have to make room in the garage also.
