    Hi TC

I haven't gotten the bike out yet because I still have 2 feet of snow. I will test it out ASAP. However, I like Ted's suggestion. It seems simple enough. My plan was to use the negative lead off of one of our coils first and see what it reads. Although with a wasted spark ignition I am not sure which wire is the negative lead, or if we even have a negative lead. I was going to use a process of elimination to find the correct one. Anyhow, I spoke to a guy that has a kz1100 and that's what he did. It originally read high so he put a 10K ohm resistor inline on the tach wire to get the signal down. He says it works great. It's worth a shot. If it works then it might become a popular mod. I am also working on my LED headlight mod.

      Hey Rev,

On the OEM bike, the negative side of the Primary wires of the coils are the Orange and Grey wires of the pair....the Red/White ones are the (+) ones. With my aftermarket Dynatek coils, they don't have a (+) or (-) terminal, but the OEM wires are still the same, so I will still be able to use the Grey/Orange wires as well. I don't know what wire your friend with the KZ used, but it shouldn't need a 10K ohm resistor?? I hope he hasn't tapped in the PLUG WIRE??

I think you can just attach a new tac wire up to the post on the coil. I don't think you need to splice into the orange wire. Or am I wrong?

          Hey Rev,

Yes, you're right, I was just using the COLORs to tell what were the Negative vs. the Positive ones. Yes, my wires are now bolt/nut attached at the coils so I won't need to actually cut/splice into the wires.
