  • Yamaha Fairing ID

I have tried to ID this fairing with no luck. I think the Pacifico is supposed to have a overhang above the headlight - so is it the Vetter? Thanks!

Yeah, I got one like that, too. Doesn't have Vetter serial no., but a Yamaha one; however, Vetter replacement windshield fits just fine

this is pretty cost effective website:

                  Hi XS11UFO,
I can confirm Vetter windshield fits.
                  I just purchased the #170 from http://www.motorcyclewindshielddeale...%22-Clear.html

Very good vendor. Fast delivery. Comes with the hard to find plastic screws and clips. Requires 1/8" foam between screen and fairing. Look at what condition yours is in and replace if needed.

Oh man! That's a cheap site!

I like this for replacement shields!

Mine is all scratched up from the previous owner, when the sun hits it just right the entire thing glows.....

Unless there is a way to polish out light scratches.

Headlight refurbishing kits help a lot with getting scratches out. Make sure you get a quality kit though. Won't be perfect but it gets a lot out.

You can use your existing cracked windshield as a pattern to cut a new one from a sheet of lexan. This article gives some pointers on cutting down an existing windshield. The cutting and edge treatment steps would be the same for making a new one.

I wish there were replacements for the Pacifico.

I really need to cut my shield down some. It is way too tall!

If/when you cut it down, go over the cut with a propane torch and that will melt the cut edge to smooth.

First bike was an: 1978 XS1100
                            Second bike is an FJR1300.
                            Now I'm restoring a '79 XS1100.
