Context is such a wonderful thing eh? I was asking him how he had diagnosed his situation? I had asked how his slides dropped? If the enricher was on or off, stuff like that.

No, I don't believe it's the advance, I believe it's ignorance on my part with regard to proper tuning. If I could see results with that "highest vacuum" tune with the carb tune, it would probably give me a good tune and cure my stutter. Stock coils is probs my issue with that.

Doug! Don't get all upset just because someone else has a different point of view.

I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just speaking from a lot of my own experience. Hell, I could very well be wrong.

        Touchy.

No, he's referring to me, not you. I hope I just cleared that up in a PM.

You are not touching any nerve I know of. Just hate a member PM'ing me and then asking the collective to verify my every message. If he wants my opinion then fine if he wants yours then PM you. If he wants everybody to answer then that is what the forum is for.
I have spent half my evening answering questions on my PM. I see fellows , such as yourself answering to plug color questions to which I agree with. Next I see that Rasputin wants me to "pull the carbs and check". I never said that. I asked if the carbs were still on the bike to check some things out. I am thinking this is way more trouble than it is worth.

Thanks for your smart-ass reply Rasputin. That'll be the last time I PM you. The collective and those who are not so effin' sensitive it is. I was giving Rasputin credit for the idea of pulling the carbs and checking the diaphragms. Forgive my play on words.

You should be honored that he trusts your opinion. What you told him just arose in the conversation we were having. Nothing disrespectful about that, that I can see.

                  What do you think?

Greg I was referring to you in my last post. Some days this gets all mucked up because of timing of our replies.

That is fine with me. I will now have time to peruse the other forum questions without any interruption. Have fun.

Ian, plugs look a bit on the lean side, but fairly even across all four. The stock settings have these motors a bit on the lean side to better meet emmissions back then, so may wanna keep that in mind with any changes made. With that said, and you had possible questions as to changing float levels to stock settings. Good choice, doing that and re-checking carb mixtures and sync, do nothing else and go ride the same process again. BTW, good pics and explanation with each. That's the correct process most often has to be taken to get you and the bike happy, happy, happy. The one thing I don't remember is whether you've had the main jets and slides out to remove each emulsion tube and clean them, paying particular attention to the little side holes, cleaning them with a toothpic. The inside of emulsion tube cleans up real nice using a .38cal. NYLON bore brush.

Hey Motoman- I think I may have almost cleared-up my bog. After all the research for Rasputin, I did my sync last night trying different things. One thing I noted is that when I turned the idle screw in-between the #1 & #2 carb, #2, 3 & 4 vacuum went high. I did not have enough knowledge to know what to do after that, so I brought them all back in-sync around 15 in. I believe. I blipped the throttle many times with the engine off. Went to bed. Went on a ride to work this morning, and it was almost smooth off idle.

One thing to note: when the bike idles, it drops below 1k, sounds like it may die, then goes back upto 1100k, stays there for about half a minute, and cycles. Interesting.
