  • Bench test neutral light switch?

Thanks for you help, guys, very much appreciated. Replaced neutral switch after my last thread concerning how to check wires, etc. Neutral light still does not go on. Did a recheck by grounding switch wire, and neut. light goes on. Took both switches to bench, used ohm-meter , stuck one contact to where the screw goes in, put other contact on threaded part of switch, no needle movement. Pushed in plunger part of switch ( all the way in) and still no movement on ohm-meter. Is there a sure-fire way to bench test these switches, or is my new one bad, too?? Thanks!

      bench test neutral light switch

I think the website is a little goofed up today, but does anyone have thoughts on how I checked the neutral light switch? Thanks-- seems the site was down all day 'til now. Thanks!

You could use a test light to test it, or a bulb rigged up somehow. You never know with those meters. I wouldn't think one of those switches would fail, they usually just leak oil. I got rid of mine, put a bolt in there. Only other thing is the cam plate on the shifter drum that makes the switch's ground contact, not functioning.
