I measured the OD of the inlet and airbox mouths of the carbs. Well, I say measured... I got the OD of the rubber manifolds where they slide over the carbs, using a Vernier gauge and then deducted the thickness of the rubber x 2. I measured this thickness by pushing a steel ruler across the joint of the carb and manifold. The thickness of the rubber on the inlet side looks to be 7mm and, on the airbox side, 5 or 6mm

I get the OD of the inlet to be 43mm and the airbox side is 55mm.

My gut reaction, having stripped loads of XS carbs is that the XJRs will physically fit. I dunno about the jets etc being right though, although they may be.

I wonder if the rubber inlet manifolds from an FJR1200 would bolt straight onto the XS? I have the FJR ones n my bike as the OEM ones are restricted by reducing the ID.

One more question. What is the total depth of the carbs edge of inlet throat to edge of outlet throat? Roughly

Ask as many as you like, Nate.

You want the width of the carb, when viewed from the side of the bike, correct? It is 100mm.

Here's another measurement which might help...45mm as per pic below

what makes you say that? Tut tut....guessing aren't we?

The XJR1300 engine and carbs are used in the US in racing cars. I bought a spin-on oil filter adapter and carbon fibre gearchange rod from the USA. They aren't available here in the UK at all. Have a look at the carb stuff too...... The world is a small place these days, so there is always support. I buy loads from the USA and send things to loads of other countries including, from USA three lots of Dyna coils, a complete GL1000 exhaust system, oil filter adapter and gear linkage, forged alloy wheels from Japan, any amount of things from Europe. I've sent the precious rear wheel bearings the world over.
