I am certain I got my battery at Walmart for Banshee back in 2009. I just replaced it this summer. However, in 2012 when I got Ruby, the bike I just sold, I had this issue with the battery at Walmart. So it seems a recent problem with the mfg.

Thinking back, I can't remember if mine was a little low too.
It might have been a little, but I just added a little pure water to raise the level up and it's been working fine. There might have been a note in the paper work that came with it that said to top it off with water. sorry, but my CRS is flaring up.

Yes, yes it is! Of course when I was heading out for a 15 mile ride to school last winter and the temperature read 12F (F, NOT C!), I really had work to convince myself that the bike ride would be funner than a car drive...

And no, I am not the OP...!

That might be an explanation for one of the reasons for the long life. As the water diluted the acid, the chemical processes got milder, which lessened the deterioration of the plates. Sort of like the difference between a sprinter and a long distance runner.
          Like I said, it's f***in magic.

What sort of voltage does your battery show after it has been sitting for an hour after a long ride?

Well, instructions said use the included acid to fill to the top most line, wait an hour, then top off with acid if needed.

Charge for 8-12 hours less than 2amps, then top off with distilled water if level goes down.

My problem was there wasn't even enough to even get remotely close to filling the last cell at all!

I did buy a battery maintainer though, and installed the wires onto the battery.

              Dry Cell

Been using the Optima batteries in cars and trucks and race cars and, and, and for quite some time now. Yes they cost more, but they are more of a battery. Plus no corrosion and they won't blow up. Use the same type (gel) batteries in bikes and 4 wheelers. All maintained when dormant with Battery Tender or solar panel type charger. Best price on Optimas that I've found is Amazon (free shipping). I always check Bike Bandit, Dennis Kirk, and Apex battery for small battery best prices.

                  Well I got it.

                  Ten minutes till they closed.

Fits in there nicely! The battery I had in there was definitely smaller.

Now I just need the hold down hooks....
